The price is handed out once a year to a person that by his own interest and active work has become known for developing the GIS use in general, and by this managed to "lift" or making GIS visible as a valuable aid in one or several businesses.

SWEGIS just finished a job updating an Internet application for Chalmers University of Technology. The application demonstrates methods for how GIS can be used to analyze foot- and cycleway networks. This is demonstrated by allowing users to make their own analysis and have the result presented on a map. The software ArcIMS and ArcView GIS were used as the GIS-engine for this application.
